New Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is set to receive the financial backing he needs from the board to improve his underperforming squad. Arteta is two matches into his tenure at the Emirates and has made an impression on the players.
But after a big summer of spending, Arsenal are understood to be short on funds to make drastic changes to key areas of the team.
Arsenal are sweating on the fitness of Calum Chambers after he was forced off with a knee issue in the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.
Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin have struggled to return to full fitness after long term injuries.
And Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac are out for several weeks with shoulder and ankle injuries respectively.

Express Sport understands Arsenal maintain a strong interest in Red Bull Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, who could be sold next month with 18 months left on his contract.
And according to the Daily Mirror, the Arsenal board are ready to show their support and confidence in Arteta by providing him with funds.
It is claimed several players could come in and also leave the Emirates in the January window, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Granit Xhaka on the way out.
