Manchester United hero Paul Parker thinks Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team will struggle to break into the top four in the Premier League this season, unless they can sign at least three players in the January transfer window.

Manchester United will need to spend big in the January transfer window if they want to qualify for next season’s Champions League, according to former Red Devil Paul Parker. The club currently sits in eighth place in the Premier League - seven points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

“To be talking about Manchester United finishing in the top four, I really don’t see how anyone can think that will happen at this moment in time,” Parker told Express Sport.
“If Ole can last until January, they’ll maybe allow him to get three players in, which will all have to be down the spine of team.
“Then, maybe they have a chance of getting that fourth spot.
“But, other than that really I don’t think there’s much chance.”

Results this season have disappointed Parker, who claimed that something “is not right” at the club.
United lost 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace earlier this season, while also failed to beat relegation-threatened Southampton.
Defeats against West Ham, Bournemouth and Watford meant the Red Devils were relying on taking points from the league’s top teams.
There are a number of players that need to be sold from the current squad, he said.

Solskjaer has been targeting young, exciting players for the future since he took over permanently in March.
The club signed 21-year-olds Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James in the summer, for a combined £65million.
The Red Devils also spent £80m on Leicester City defender Harry Maguire, as they considered him a potential long-term leader within the squad.
United start 2020 with a trip to Arsenal on January 1 (8pm), before travelling to Wolves for their FA Cup Third Round tie on January 4 (5.31pm).
