Takumi Minamino has been wanting to join Liverpool ever since 2015 because he wanted to work with Jurgen Klopp at the top level. An old interview has reemerged on social media showing Minamino expressing his desire to move to the Reds and link up with Klopp.

The winger’s wish finally came true when he signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the reigning European championsand is now expected to join the squadthe New Yearthe January transfer window opens.
The Japan international was thought to be particularly impressed with Klopp’s work after witnessing the way his compatriot Shinji Kagawa developed under the German’s coaching.
The former Red Bull Salzburg star was asked: "Where do you want to go? What league or team?"
And Minamino replied: "Premier League because Klopp moved to Liverpool, I want to go Liverpool."
