Adrian was brought on as his replacement, but conceded to the next kick of the ball after Lewis Dunk’s cheeky free-kick.
The Brighton defender passed the ball into the bottom corner from 20 yards out as he took advantage of Liverpool’s lapse in concentration to cut the lead to one goal.
Still, Jurgen Klopp’s side held onto the lead and extended their lead at the top as a result.
The win was made even sweeter by the fact Manchester City failed to beat Newcastle, meaning they are now 11 points back - and could drop to third if Leicester City beat Everton today.

“Sometimes they blitz teams like Liverpool do, I think the last couple of weeks they’ve come from behind a couple of times, and today they had to dig deep.
“Brighton had 55 per-cent possession today, they controlled the game for large periods.
