Three central defenders Man Utd boss Solskjaer could target in January to partner Maguire
Harry Maguire has impressed since joining Manchester United in the summer.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to be busy in January.
United have won just four of their first 12 Premier League matches though will be hoping to add to that as they travel to Sheffield United today (4.30pm).
Solskjaer has admitted he wants to make moves in January and may be looking for someone to partner Harry Maguire in defence.
Victor Lindelof appears to be first-choice partner though Express Sport has now looked at other options Solskjaer has.
Three defenders Man Utd could sign in January
Toby Alderweireld
The Tottenham defender was regularly linked with a move to Old Trafford during the summer and the Red Devils may be in for the Belgian come January.
New Spurs boss Jose Mourinho had been keen on Alderweireld when he was at the helm at United, so it will be interesting to see how the manager uses the centre-back now.
There is also a chance that Mourinho will not want to sell to a former club and strengthen a rival for the top four.
But Solskjaer may chance his arm with Alderweireld out of contract in the summer.
Kalidou Koulibaly
Another that has been regularly linked, Koulibaly has impressed at Napoli.
A recent social media post suggested he is happy at the Serie A club, but United may hope to lure him to England.
At a reported £90m, he may be a bit much for the Red Devils in January though would likely mean United wouldn't need to strengthen at the back in the summer.
Solskjaer would face competition for Koulibaly though with the Senegalese star having many admirers.
Merih Demiral
United have been recently linked with the Juventus ace, who has struggled since moving to Turin in the summer.
The Turkish international has failed to nail down a regular spot after Juve paid around £15m to prise his from fellow Serie A side Sassuolo.
Juventus reportedly want a hefty profit though with an asking price believed to be at around £35m.
Both United and Premier League rivals Arsenal sent scouts to watch Demiral in international action over the past fortnight and a transfer battle may ensue.
