Man Utd handed double injury boost as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prepares for crucial run
Manchester United have had their fair share of injury problems this season with Marcos Rojo and Scott McTominay the latest two stars in need of treatment.
Man Utd: Solskjaer gives update on McTominay ankle injury
Manchester United are in line for a surprise double injury boost to the pleasure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Norwegian has had to contend with a number of injuries to key stars this season, which is partially the reason behind their inconsistent start to the campaign.
Yet they could be set to welcome back both Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly in the near future, according to ESPN.
United are preparing themselves for a gruelling stretch of fixtures which will see them play 12 matches between November 24 and New Year’s Day.
That means they will need to maximise the use of their full squad throughout the Christmas period, including fringe and youth players.
Bailly is expected to return to light training at the end of the current international break.
The centre-back suffered a medial ligament injury on his right knee in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford earlier this year.
He then made a return to the side but sustained another knee injury which required surgery, during a pre-season game against Tottenham in the Far East.
Bailly’s contract will expire at the end of the season meaning he will be free to talk to other clubs in January.
Meanwhile Pogba has been out of action since the 1-1 draw with Arsenal on September 30.
The Frenchman posted a video on his Instagram earlier this week of the cast being removed from his right foot.
Solskjaer admitted after the 3-1 win at Norwich that fans should not expect to see him until December.
“I don’t think we’ll see him before December. He’ll be out for a while,” the United boss said.
“He needs time to fully recover so I don’t think he will be back before maybe Sheffield United after the international break but probably December before you can see him.”
Solskjaer was then asked to clarify the problem which has been causing Pogba grief.
“I’m not a doctor but there is an injury there that needs healing,” he added.
“There’s no use talking about who’s not going to be here for a long time because he’s not going to come on the pitch and help us.
“Paul’s been brilliant and he is the creative midfielder that we need but then it’s up to the others to step up.”
