Liverpool backed to beat Tottenham to January signing to help Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah
Liverpool are reportedly in advanced talks over a move for Bournemouth star Ryan Fraser.
Liverpool: Ryan Fraser transfer a ‘no brainer’ claims pundit
Ryan Fraser is the type of player Tottenham need but a move to Liverpool would be a “no-brainer”, claims former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy.
Bournemouth winger Fraser is reportedly a target for Liverpool ahead of the January transfer window.
The Scotland international is out of contract at the end of the season so would be available for a cut-price fee.
And Cundy reckons it would be smart business to lessen the workload on the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, as well as have an able replacement if one of them got injured.
When Liverpool at the moment come knocking, why would you go to Spurs?
“I think you can see exactly the sort of player that Liverpool need if one of those players out wide [got injured], whether it be Mane or whether it be Salah,” Cundy said on talkSPORT.
“He’s got the raw minerals actually to step in. He’s quick with the ball, travels with it, he’s got a brilliant delivery.
“I can see it, it’s a no-brainer as far as I can see.
“Certainly the price tag wouldn’t be expensive, he can sign for four or five years and they’d still have a residue value on him, so it makes perfect sense for me."
Arsenal were linked with Fraser’s signature in the summer transfer window.
Cundy believes their north London rivals Tottenham should be keen on the 25-year-old, though admits it would be hard to turn down top-of-the-table Liverpool at the moment.
“I’m not sure Arsenal and Man United quite right now need him but Spurs, I can see it at Spurs, I can definitely see that fit,” he added.
“When Liverpool at the moment come knocking, why would you go to Spurs?
“I think that there is an element of what we don’t know is that if clubs realise or find out inside information via the agent or a third party that the player would prefer a move to another club, they tend not to get interested because of the public embarrassment of trying to get a player and then they don’t get him.
“It feels now that Liverpool feel confident enough that they can go out and get him and you can see why.”
