Everton star Andre Gomes may be ruled out for the rest of the season following his horror injury against Tottenham at Goodison Park.
Gomes was tripped by Son Heung-min while running down the left flank and got his foot stuck in the turf before colliding with Serge Aurier on Sunday.
Players and fans then watched in shock as the midfielder suffered a fractured dislocation of his right ankle while Son broke down in tears before being shown a red card by referee Martin Atkinson.
But the Portugal international’s surgery "went extremely well" and Everton have confirmed that he is "expected to make a full recovery”.
Successful surgery, no major setbacks. I'd expect a RTP within 4-6 months

However, Gomes is facing a long road ahead of him and injury analyst Ben Dinnery claims he may be out for about four to six months.
That means the former Barcelona star may not return until May, close to the end of the season.
Dinnery tweeted: “Successful surgery, no major setbacks. I'd expect a RTP within 4-6 months.”
Gomes received many messages of support following his injury from a number of fans, footballers and pundits.

Everton expressed their gratitude for such solidarity on behalf of the 26-year-old.
A club statement added: “On behalf of Andre, the club would like to thank all Everton supporters and members of the wider football family for the overwhelming messages of support we have received since yesterday's match."
Everton were trailing to Tottenham before Gomes’ injury as Dele Alli opened the scoring with a beautiful finish.
The Toffees equalised through Cenk Tosun in stoppage time but the goal had little value for the Turkey striker.
