Liverpool hero picks star Kevin de Bruyne would replace in Reds team - ‘Thanks for coming'
Liverpool legend Steve Nicol picked Kevin de Bruyne as the Manchester City player he would have at Anfield.
Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne would replace Jordan Henderson in the Liverpool team if he played for the Reds, claims Anfield legend Steve Nicol.
Nicol was asked while appearing on ESPN FC which player he would like to take from Liverpool’s title rivals City in Jurgen Klopp’s team.
De Bruyne was the Scot’s selection and he claims it would be skipper Henderson’s place who the Belgian would take in midfield.
“De Bruyne, aye, absolutely,” Nicol said.
You’d have to have him in the middle wouldn’t you. Henderson, thanks for coming
“[He fits in] wherever he wants, the midfield three yeah.
“You’d have to have him in the middle wouldn’t you. Henderson, thanks for coming.”
When asked which Liverpool player Manchester City would want, Nicol said there was only possible option.
“Well [Virgil] Van Dijk, easy peasy,” he concluded.
Liverpool will look to return to winning ways in the Premier League this Sunday when they host struggling Tottenham.
And manager Klopp is expecting a tough game despite Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s difficult start to the season.
“The situation of Tottenham I cannot judge because I have no idea what happens there and stuff like this,” Klopp said at his pre-match press conference.
“Football is like this, from time to time things don’t work out. But now we saw that game [against Red Star], and it was not the only game – even in the other games, when the results were not really there they had good moments as well.
“It was not that they forget how to play football, that Harry Kane doesn’t know anymore – he showed in that game [against Red Star] how good he can be.
“Then Son [Heung-min], then [Dele] Alli, [who has been] often injured [but now] coming back, finding rhythm and all that stuff.
“They are always able to put a proper performance in on the pitch – that is what we have to expect.”
