Ed Woodward admits what Man Utd have 'not done a great job' with
The Manchester United chief has lamented mistakes made by himself and other senior club members.
Ed Woodward admits Manchester United have made several mistakes in the communication department.
United’s executive vice-chairman has often been accused of remaining silent on a number of issues.
Fans have lamented the 47-year-old’s failure to provide clarity on key matters, which has paved the way for rumours to run wild.
And with the benefit of hindsight, Woodward wishes he’d done more to dispel them.
“As I’ve said, we’ve not done a great job without communication,” Woodward said in the matchday programme ahead of Sunday’s clash with Liverpool. “Secondly, I don’t constantly brief the media.
"Do I respond to tiny questions from journalists? Sometimes. When I see things in the press that I’ve supposedly briefed, it’s wrong more often than not.
"It’s regurgitated and people think I’m briefing when I’m not. I meet with the Manchester pack once or twice a year.
"I will meet other senior journalists if there is something happening and I want to give some context.

"That’s ad hoc and maybe happens once a year. That’s not constantly briefing.”
United enter their clash with Liverpool on a torrid run of form, winning only five of their last 21 matches.
And ahead of the visit of the runaway league leaders, Woodward has given Red Devils chief Ole Gunnar Solskajer a fresh vote of confidence.
“Let Ole continue,” Woodward said in an interview with fanzine United We Stand. “I think there will be a better understanding of who we are and what we are, which will resonate with fans who have been around for a long time.”
Woodward is adamant the board were correct to appoint the Norwegian before Champions League football had been secured, saying: “It wasn’t pivotal to it one way or another.
“I want to take a long-term view. Being distracted by short term things can be dangerous when you are making cold, calm, long-term decisions.
"Ole was hired with the long-term view that he will be successful.”
