‘I’ve never seen that at Man Utd’ - Tony Cascarino admits Manchester United surprise
Manchester United have struggled in front of goal so far this season.
Manchester United do not have one player in their squad who can score 15 goals in the Premier League this season, claims ex-Chelsea and Aston Villa striker Tony Cascarino.
Scoring goals has been one of United’s main problems so far this season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have failed to notch more than once in a game since the opening day 4-0 win over Chelsea.
They have let in less goals than the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea but still find themselves in 12th place in the Premier League table.
There’s not one player in there that can get 15 goals [in a season]
Daniel James and Marcus Rashford are United’s top two scorers in the league, both netting three times.
But Cascarino does not think a single Manchester United player will reach 15 goals by the time the season is over - something he has never seen before.
“I’ve never ever seen a Man United squad where I think ‘Do you know what? There’s not one player in there that can get 15 goals [in a season]’,” he said on talkSPORT.
“We talked about 20, I’m talking about 15. I’ve never seen that at Man United.”
Questions marks have risen over manager Solskjaer following United’s worst start to a season in 30 years.
But Cascarino believes people higher up at the club must take responsibility.
“The top of the club needs rethinking of how they manage that football club because you need footballing people who are going to be behind some of the big decisions that that club needs,” Cascarino added.
“Ole is quite a rookie as a manager, he’s not someone who’s established and been a manager for years and years.
“[Solskjaer’s appointment] was a decision that they made at that football club.
“He had a wonderful start, that’s obviously eroded and it’s now at a level where they’ve been on a bad run, bad performances, players not good enough to be in that football team and you can go from midfielders to forwards.”
