Man Utd manager Solskjaer ‘unfortunate’ because of Liverpool and Man City argues Giggs
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must be given time at the club, according to Ryan Giggs.
Manchester United must give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer time at Old Trafford, just like Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have at Liverpool and Manchester City.
That’s the opinion of Red Devils legend and Wales boss Ryan Giggs.
Solskjaer has struggled with at the start of the season with Manchester United sitting way down in 10th in the Premier League after seven matches.
But Giggs has told his former club they must stick with the Norwegian.
He told Goal: “It's a tough job at the moment.
“What Manchester United have had in the last four to five years is a mix of Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho players.
“Ole is trying to get back to what Manchester United used to be, picking young hungry players - like Dan James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire.
“But he's unfortunate in a way to be in the same era as Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.
Man Utd: Solskjaer is 'feeling the pressure' says pundit
“Klopp is in his fourth year at Liverpool. Pep established Manchester City during that time. Mauricio Pochettino has had six years with Spurs.
“Ole has to be given time too. You need that time to mould your team into the way you want them to play, although whether managers always get that time in this day and age is another thing.”
United return to action against Newcastle tomorrow in the Premier League (4.30pm) as they look to get back to winning ways.
Solskjaer has confirmed it is unlikely Paul Pogba will be fit for the match though.
“Probably not [but] let's see on Saturday morning,” he said.
“Paul? Probably not. There's the international break to come and that might be the time to give them 10-14 days extra to get them ready for the Liverpool game.”
Harry Maguire and Ashley Young are expected to return after being rested for the Europa League clash with AZ Alkmaar.
