What Alexis Sanchez leaving Man Utd for Inter Milan shows about Old Trafford board
Manchester United selling Alexis Sanchez is the latest example of the club’s “mismanagement at the highest order”, according to former Chelsea player Craig Burley.
But now, his time in Manchester looks set to be over, as he prepares to join former team-mate Romelu Lukaku at Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan.
The deal will be an initial one-year loan, but with no mandatory purchase agreement.
As part of the agreement, United will pay £250,000-per-week of his wages.
And Burley explained on ESPN FC that he believes the move highlights how poor United’s business in the transfer market has been over the past seven years since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

“Admission of mismanagement at the highest order,” he said.
“You’ve got Paul Pogba, the big signings that have come in after Alex Ferguson.
“Pogba clearly wants to leave at some point no matter what he says.
“Lukaku, they got the money for, but he clearly wasn’t happy.

“[He was] another signing that they wanted to get rid of.
“Then, the biggest flop of them all - especially regarding his salary - was Alexis Sanchez.
“It’s mismanagement, poor transfer after poor transfer, and what we’re seeing on the pitch is because of that.”
