Chelsea plot new contracts for two stars as Frank Lampard shapes squad for the future
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is preparing to offer new contracts to Tammy Abraham and Reece James, as he looks to cement the club’s future during the transfer ban.
Abraham signed his current Chelsea contract in 2017
Abraham signed his current contract in 2017, before he was shipped out on loan to Swansea City.
He scored just five goals in 31 Premier League appearances for the Swans, and was immediately sent back out on loan to Aston Villa.
His spell in the midlands was significantly more profitable than his loan in Wales, as he scored 25 goals in the Championship last season.
The 21-year-old has found himself as Frank Lampard’s first-choice striker at Chelsea this season, leaving Olivier Giroud on the bench.

The Blues want to tie Abraham down for an extra two years with the new deal, which will mean he’s contracted at Stamford Bridge until 2024.
He’s currently the lowest earner in the Chelsea first-team, in the absence of Callum Hudson-Odoi, after midfielder Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek signed new deals this summer.
But, James earns significantly less than the Chelsea first-team, and the Blues are preparing to offer him a new deal that’s representative of his value to the squad.
