Arsenal team news: Predicted 4-2-3-1 lineup vs Burnley - Lacazette and Pepe to start?
UNAI EMERY is likely to make some changes to his Arsenal team for their clash with Burnley.
Arsenal vs Burnley: Premier League match preview
Arsenal got their season off to a winning start with a 1-0 victory over Newcastle at St James’ Park.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got the only goal of the game and could rekindle his partnership with Alexandre Lacazette, with the forward now fully recovered from the ankle injury which forced him onto the substitutes bench last Sunday.
However, a fully fit Lacazette gives Emery a different challenge as he tries to fit them both into the team.
“Last year they played a lot of matches together, Auba right or left as a winger,” Emery said.
“His capacity can help us this year. They are strikers but above all I think we can use them in different situations.”
If Aubameyang does move out to the wing as expected, the two could form an offensive trio with new signing Nicolas Pepe, who made his debut off the bench against Newcastle.
“I am going to decide tomorrow because now is a small difference for my decision about the player,” Emery said when asked if the winger would start against Burnley.
“It depends how they will be tomorrow in the training. Pepe is training with us, improving with us, knowing us. He’s understanding our style little by little and physically getting better. He is more close to help us at the beginning [of the match].”
Both Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac are back in contention after the two were involved in security incidents last week.
“They came back training with us on Tuesday, they came to start training with us, we had it off,” Emery said. “Mesut Ozil is a little sick, he didn’t train yesterday.
“Each training gives us good information, different options with them.
“Am I pleased to have them back? Of course.
“If they are training consistently each day with normal work I am going to decide and achieve the best solution each moment. It’s positive they are with us now.”
Arsenal will do 'important things' with new players says Emery
Granit Xhaka is expected to miss the clash with Burnley after suffering bruising to his lower back and leg, with Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi likely to start in central midfield.
Deadline day signing David Luiz is also in line for his first start since his £8million move from Chelsea.
Although Sokratis Papastathopolous and Calum Chambers kept a clean sheet against Newcastle, Luiz will likely come in for Chambers.
How Arsenal could line up against Burnley:
Leno; Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, Luiz, Monreal; Guendouzi, Torreira; Pepe, Ozil, Aubameyang; Lacazette
