Man Utd fans told the one thing that is blocking Paulo Dybala transfer
PAULO DYBALA’s move to Manchester United will not happen unless the Argentine lowers his wage demands, claims European football expert Gabriele Marcotti.
Man United: Dybala needs to lower his wage demands says pundit
Dybala has emerged as a transfer target for both Manchester United and Tottenham this summer.
The 25-year-old fell out of favour at Juventus last season following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Dybala scored just five goals in his 24 starts in Serie A for the Old Lady.
Reports have claimed Juventus are keen on swapping Dybala for United striker Romelu Lukaku.
You really can’t see United paying that for Dybala after the season he’s had
But Marcotti says Dybala wants to double his wage if he moves to Old Trafford, which looks set to put off United.
“Apparently Dybala says ‘well if I’m going to move to United, I want to double my wages’ to something like €9m net which, quick back-of-the-envelope sums, works out to something like €16m gross, in excess of €300,000 a week,” Marcotti told ESPN FC.
“You really can’t see United paying that for Dybala after the season he’s had.
“So this would kind of block the whole thing.”
Meanwhile, Lukaku has been left out of United’s squad for the short pre-season trip to Norway.
The Belgian has been heavily linked with Inter Milan as well as the recent interest from Serie A champions Juventus.
But Marcotti cannot see a deal happening unless United lower their asking price for Lukaku.
United want at least the £75m they spent to sign the striker from Everton two summers ago.
“Federico Pastorello, the guy who looks after Romelu Lukaku, he’s trying to get some sort of deal done to move him, whether to Juventus, whether to Inter, who really like him but of course are short on funds,” Marcotti continued.
“I think it’s going to take more than that, either that or United dropping their asking price.
“But I don’t really see that either.”
