After failing to crack the first team, he made the decision to leave this summer, with Villa picking up the talented prospect.
And after his move to Villa Park was made official, he revealed that staying in the Premier League was a major factor in his decision.
“Today is a really happy moment in my life and in my career,” he told the club's website.
“It’s the start of another stage in my life. I’ve got another chance to play in the Premier League.

“I’m really happy to have signed today and it’s the start of something great."
Villa’s summer spending spree has been criticised by some, with pundits suggesting that they had made the same mistakes as Fulham did last summer by spending big after winning promotion.
Fulham’s squad failed to gel properly after being thrown together last summer, but Luiz’s comments have suggested he is willing to be the centre-piece of the team.
“I hope I can be a leader in the team. I hope I can help by bringing the ball out from the back and, although I don’t speak a lot of English, I hope I can help out by shouting orders from the back and live up to all the expectations as best as I can,” he continued.
