Manchester United capped off an impressive pre-season tour with a 2-1 win over Spurs in Shanghai.
The win marked their fourth victory in a row, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men defeated Perth Glory, Leeds United and Inter Milan earlier on the tour.
Anthony Martial - who United fans are hoping will make a big impression this season - put the Red Devils 1-0 up in Shanghai before Lucas Moura’s equaliser.
But with ten minutes remaining, and the game destined for a draw, United Academy prospect Gomes produced a spark of brilliance to score his first goal for the senior side.
The 18-year-old picked up the ball inside the Spurs half and ran at the Tottenham defence before playing a neat one-two with Juan Mata and slotting past Paulo Gazzaniga.
Solskjaer, clearly impressed with what he saw from Gomes, talked up the chances of the attacking midfielder breaking into the first team this year.
“It was a great goal by Angel [Gomes] – a great response,” he said.
“The little boy is bright and sharp.

“A great finish, so I’m delighted for him because he’s been, since day one, really sharp in pre-season so we have high hopes for him.
“All in all, the tour has been very good.”
Solskjaer was also impressed with Martial, who played in the first half before being swapped out at half-time.
Yeah, he played well,” the Norwegian continued.
