The two Chelsea first-team stars who may suffer under Frank Lampard - Robson
CHELSEA wingers Willian and Pedro will have to prove they are worth their spot in the starting XI under Frank Lampard.
Chelsea: Pundit admits he hopes Pulisic ‘gets a chance’
That is according to ESPN FC pundit and former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson.
Lampard is unable to spend in his first transfer window in charge of Chelsea due to the club’s transfer ban.
However, he does have Christian Pulisic who joined the club in January for £58million before being loaned back to Borussia Dortmund.
Pulisic would likely take a place on the left or right wing at Chelsea if he started.
Willian pleases some managers, doesn’t please everybody
And therefore Robson believes both Willian and Pedro will see their places under threat.
Brazil international Willian started 26 games in the Premier League last season, scoring just three goals.
Pedro, meanwhile, only played 21 league matches from the start but scored eight goals.
Robson says Willian and Pedro have enjoyed varying success under the different managers they have played for at Chelsea.
And he reckons they may have to battle to impress Lampard.
“I hope [Pulisic] gets a chance,” Robson said.
“I hope he plays in one of those wide areas where he can run at people and do all the things [he can do].
“Willian’s been in and out the side, Willian pleases some managers, doesn’t please everybody.
“Pedro likewise has been in and out of the side.
“When he’s playing well he’s an excellent player but doesn’t always play well.
“So Pulisic may just get that opportunity but he’s got to take it when he gets it.”
