Monreal finds himself in a similar situation to Koscielny, as both defenders are entering the final year of their contracts with the club, however they differ in where they want to play next season.
Arsenal had been in negotiations with Koscielny over a new agreement but with talks apparently at a stand-still over a new deal, the Frenchman is now ready to call it quits on his time with the Gunners.
And in order to force a move away from the club, Koscielny has refused to travel with the Gunners' on their pre-season tour of the United States.
However, amid the uncertainty over his team-mate's future, Monreal, who has been linked with a return to Spain, insists he is committed to staying at Arsenal for this upcoming season.

“I belong at Arsenal. I have a contract and my idea is to continue playing for them,” the 33-year-old told The Sun.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery is looking to strengthen several areas of his squad this summer but is limited in who he can bring in as the Spaniard is reportedly working with a £45million transfer budget.
The club have already seen several veteran players leave this summer, with 37-year-old Petr Cech retiring from football and returning to Chelsea as a technical and performance adviser.
Midfielder Aaron Ramsey left to join Juventus on a free transfer after his contract expired in June and the 28-year-old secured a four-year £400,000-a-week deal as he swaps London for Turin.

Right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner left the Emirates this summer after spending one year with the club and Emery also decided to release the injury-prone striker Danny Welbeck.
Despite so many experienced players leaving the club this summer, Monreal isn’t concerned.
“I am not worried about the size of the squad,” the Spaniard said.
“Petr Cech decided to retire and we’ve lost Aaron Ramsey, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Danny Welbeck.
