Arsenal sent transfer warning over Wilfried Zaha - ‘I don’t think he’d be a success’
ARSENAL have been urged to forget signing Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha.
Arsenal had a bid of £40million turned down for Zaha earlier this month.
Crystal Palace are said to want up to £100m for the Ivory Coast international.
With Arsenal’s transfer budget said to be well below that, the Gunners are prepared to offer a players-plus cash deal.
Reports have also claimed Arsenal could sell last season’s top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to help fund new signings.
Zaha, having seeing him at the African Cup of Nations, Crystal Palace I think is his level
But former midfielder Stewart Robson says that would be the wrong decision because Zaha is not good enough for the level Arsenal want to reach.
“The worry for me is there’s talk of Aubameyang being sold so they can get money to buy other players,” Robson said on ESPN FC.
“And then they’ve made ridiculous offers for Zaha which Crystal Palace say is disgusting and not right.
“Zaha, having seeing him at the African Cup of Nations, Crystal Palace I think is his level.
“He’s a good player at Crystal Palace, he tried at Manchester United.
“If Arsenal bought him for a lot of money, I don’t think he’d be a success.”
Arsenal missed out on Champions League qualification for the third successive campaign last term.
Robson says the upcoming season will be difficult but cannot see Unai Emery’s side dropping out of the top six.
“I still think they’ll get in that top six,” he added.
“I don’t think there’s any other sides that you could see breaking into that top six.
“Remember Arsenal nearly got into the Champions League positions and nearly won the Europa League.
“I still think they’ll be in the top six but it’s not going to be a good season for them.”
