Tottenham table bid for next signing after completing record Tanguy Ndombele deal
TOTTENHAM have moved quickly to make their third signing of the summer, according to reports.
Tottenham announce signing of Tanguy Ndombele
The north Londoners completed the signing of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele on Tuesday for a club-record fee of £62million.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has also secured the services of 18-year-old Jack Clarke from Leeds United, though the midfielder has been loaned back to the Championship club.
The Argentine is said to be keen on bringing in at least two more players before the close of the transfer window, which shuts on August 8.
And according to The Sun, Poch has tabled a bid for Leyton Orient youngster Dan Happe.
They claim the 20-year-old is also on the radar of Leicester City, Leeds and Norwich City and that Spurs have had a £300,000 offer for the centre-back rejected.
Happe played a key role in Orient returning to the Football League last season, so much so the Londoners are demanding a higher fee for his services.
He does, however, only have 12 months remaining on his contract at Brisbane Road, which could tempt Orient to cash in on him.
Should the east London club decide to cash in Happe, they’re hopeful of having him return on loan for the duration of the 2019-20 season.
Spurs have reportedly had a £300,000 bid for Leyton Orient defender Daniel Happe rejected
Ndombele’s arrival at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a real statement of intent from club, who were runners-up in last season’s Champions League final.
The France international is looking forward to the challenge ahead of him, saying: “I am very happy to be here and looking forward to playing in the new stadium.
“It’s very simple for me – Spurs are in the top four teams right now in England. I believe that my style of play is well suited to English football and Tottenham are giving me the opportunity to show that, so I am extremely happy to be here.
“For me, it’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid to play in the Premier League. Now I can make that dream come true right here.
Tottenham: Tanguy Ndombele sends message to fans
“I can’t wait, I’m excited at being able to play in the Premier League and I’m hoping that we can achieve great things with the team.
“I hope to be able to bring what I know I can do – to do my bit for the team.
“The squad works really well together so I hope to start well, integrate, settle into the group and then continue in the same way. To win silverware, that’s also why I am here.”
Tottenham kick off their Premier League campaign on August 10, taking on Championship play-off final winners Aston Villa.
