Arsenal backed to sign Celtic star Kieran Tierney… but there’s a catch
ARSENAL’s proposed deal to sign Celtic defender Kieran Tierney has been backed - but one issue is threatening to stall talks.
Arsenal fan claims Kieran Tierney deal is 'agreed'
Arsenal boss Unai Emery has been forced to work with a reduced transfer budget this summer after his side missed out on a Champions League return.
The Gunners only have £40million in available funds ahead of Emery’s second season as boss, with Kieran Tierney likely to cost half of that.
Club legend Ray Parlour has backed Tierney’s versatility as a good reason to secure the signing, but he admits that Celtic’s valuation of the player could stop a deal going through.
When asked if Tierney would be a good addition at Arsenal, Parlour told Sky Sports: “He’s a very good player.
“He can play in a three at the back as a left-back or centre-back.
“He would strengthen the squad and the team but it goes down to the money again.
“How much money will Celtic want for him? He’s a good quality player.”
Arsenal’s initial bid of £15m was quickly rejected for their prized asset, the offer failing short of their £25m valuation.

The Scottish champions are likely to accept any offer over £20m, which has angered their former striker Chris Sutton.
Sutton has urged the Hoops to use Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s £50m move to Manchester United from Crystal Palace as a reason to hold out for a higher fee from Arsenal.
“Not so long ago John Stones went for £50 million and Celtic sold Virgil Van Dijk for £13 million…” he wrote on Twitter.
“Wan Bissaka £50 million to United… Let’s hope if Celtic do sell Kieran Tierney they get a similar fee as he is every bit as good…”
Although the proposed deal has failed to progress over the last few days, broadcaster Mark Donaldson is confident that the two clubs will reach an agreement this month.
Donaldson said on talkSPORT: "I think it’s a case of a fee will be agreed, whatever it is.
“I think Celtic have done well here because they haven’t accepted the first bid."
