Chelsea slammed over transfer deal for one player - ‘I was shocked, absolutely shocked’
CHELSEA have been slammed over the sale of young left-back Jay Dasilva.
Dasilva left Chelsea to join Championship side Bristol City for an undisclosed fee on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old has signed a four-year deal at Ashton Gate after spending last season on loan there.
Dasilva came through the youth ranks at Chelsea after joining the club aged 13.
But talkSPORT host Adrian Durham cannot understand why the Blues have sanctioned a permanent exit.
Surely the youth players, especially with the transfer embargo, are part of the programme
Chelsea are currently manageress but legendary midfielder Frank Lampard is set to take the role and bring Jody Morris, who was formerly a youth coach at Stamford Bridge, with him from Derby County.
The Blues are unable to sign players for the next two transfer windows due to a transfer ban.
So Durham cannot understand why Lampard and Morris would not want to keep players such as Dasilva due to their inability to bring fresh faces to the club.
Durham said: “What puzzles me about it is this: if they’ve got these youth players, young players, Chelsea and Frank Lampard and Jody Morris are being taken back to the club, surely the youth players, especially with the transfer embargo, are part of the programme.
“They’re part of the policy now.
“I have to say I’ve seen him a couple of times, Jay Dasilva, and have been really impressed.
“I was shocked, absolutely shocked when I was that it was a permanent deal.
“I would have rolled my eyes to heaven if I had heard it was another season-long loan.
“But here Chelsea have said ‘yeah it’s alright, you can go’.
“He’s so highly-rated, he looks so good, and having won so much as a youth with Chelsea, I can’t get my head around it.
“For me it doesn’t make any sense.
“If there are Chelsea fans fuming about it, I can understand it.”
