Man Utd: Wan-Bissaka set for £55m transfer claims journalist
Manchester United have been chasing the England Under-21 international’s signature since the summer transfer window opened.
The Red Devils have had two offers for the 21-year-old rejected by Palace, the most recent of which was in the region of £50million.
United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and the club's head of corporate development Matt Judge meet with Palace chiefs earlier this week to hash out an agreement for the full-back.
And according to The Sun, they’ve agreed a £55million deal for the defender.
It’s claimed Wan-Bissaka will jet back to the UK in the coming days to undergo a medical before flying off for his summer holidays after playing in the Under 21 European Championship.
Wan-Bissaka caught the eye of United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a string of defensively-sound displays for Roy Hodgson’s side.
But former Palace star John Solako reckons his move to Old Trafford could have a detrimental effect on his development.
"I'm just a bit concerned with Aaron. It's been his first full season and it's been absolutely magnificent," Solako told talkSport.
Man United will develop Aaron Wan-Bissaka claims pundit
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will reportedly undergo a medical with Manchester United this week
"You remember with Walcott and those types of players who came through at Southampton - even [Gareth] Bale or [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain - they came early and it took them years to find their feet.
"I don't know why teams don't buy them and then leave them with their club and loan them back for a season or two, just to get that maturity."
Solako also reckons Wan-Bissaka’s move to United could pan out the same Wilfried Zaha’s ill-fated spell at the Theatre of Dreams did.
"He's got the world at his feet,” he added. “But my only concern is that we had Wilfried Zaha leave at a young age and he didn't cope.
"He wasn't mature enough and didn't really settle in at Man United.
"He ended up coming back and has had the best spell of his career since he came back."
Wan-Bissaka hasn't been paying attention to the speculation surrounding his future and is fully focused on improving ahead of next season.
When asked what his targets are for next season, he said: “I’d say more assists mainly than I have now and get into goalscoring chances.
