Aaron Wan-Bissaka wages: How much could Man Utd target earn compared to other stars?
AARON WAN-BISSAKA will earn a substantial payrise should his record-breaking transfer from Crystal Palace to Manchester United go through. Express Sport looks at how much the defender could earn at Old Trafford.
Man Utd: Pundits discuss Aaron Wan-Bissaka's transfer fee
Aaron Wan-Bissaka looks set to join Manchester United in a £55 million deal that would break the club’s transfer record and continue Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s ample investment in youth as he rebuilds his squad.
The mooted move leaves the 21-year-old contemplating a sharp wage increase should he make the move from Selhurst Park following an impressive first season in senior football.
According to Spotrac, the winger-turned-defender is the lowest earner in the Palace dressing room.
They estimate his weekly wage is around £15,000, amounting to a salary of just under £800,000 per year.
That will rise significantly at Old Trafford, where top earner Alexis Sanchez is thought to earn a hefty £350,000 per week.
Wantaway France midfielder Paul Pogba is next on the list, receiving just short of £300,000 every week before bonuses.
How much will Aaron Wan-Bissaka earn at Man United?
Most of United’s top earners are over 25 and Wan-Bissaka is likely to see his salary rocket should he continue his meteoric rise from academy hopeful to Old Trafford regular.
Wan-Bissaka will earn at least three times what he pockets at Crystal Palace.
The defender could end up pocketing between £50,000-£70,000-a-week at Old Trafford.
Wan-Bissaka will likely slot into the wage structure alongside Phil Jones (£50,000-per-week) and Eric Bailly (£75,000-per-week).
The fleet-footed right-back has risen rapidly since starting out playing Sunday League football at the age of five.
As a youth player at Palace, his performance as a late replacement in a first-team training session saw him summoned again the following week.
Fellow youth product Wilfred Zaha, who took on Wan-Bissaka during the session, said: “I was kind of shocked by how good he was when I played against him.
“I’ve played against a few decent right-backs and he’s one of them. You may go past him but he always gets a last-ditch tackle in. He’s so good at defending.”
Wan-Bissaka admires the adventurous approach of fellow full-back Dani Alves, the PSG and Brazil defender who he names as a key influence.
His third England Under-21 appearance ended in cruel fashion on Tuesday when he scored a last-gasp own-goal to consign Aidy Boothroyd’s side to a 2-1 defeat against France.
Pundits and commentators questioned his performance during a match in which England took the lead before France scored twice in the final seven minutes.
The setback means England’s youngsters face a battle to qualify for the knockout stages of the European Championships.
