Man Utd transfer news: Why Gareth Bale could join from Real Madrid for just £25m
MANCHESTER UNITED could seal a deal with Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale for as little as £25million this summer - by signing the Wales forward on loan.
Man United: Pundit says he 'can see' Griezmann and Bale signing
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already signed one Wales forward this summer after Daniel James joined from Swansea, and could seal another in the coming days.
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is desperate to sell Gareth Bale to free up transfer funds after the former Spurs man failed to impress in the latter stages of the season.
Although the club are not as determined to sell their 2013 Galactico as much as their French boss, a loan deal could suit both clubs as it offers a smaller risk.
According to the Mirror, both United and Tottenham have been linked with £75million permanent deals for the 29-year-old, but his fitness worries and lack of form have put off both clubs from parting with that amount of money.
However, Bale could still find himself at Old Trafford next season in the form of a season-long loan deal which could cost the club around £25m.
Zidane was brought back to the Bernabeu after both Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari were sacked by the notoriously unforgiving club chiefs in Madrid.
The 46-year-old is far from happy with his current squad and will look to send out a message by getting rid of four-time Champions League winner Bale.
One player that could be involved in a possible deal is World Cup winner Paul Pogba.
I don’t see how they can get rid of him without losing money for a start
Pogba is keen to leave Old Trafford after becoming frustrated at his lack of major silverware since joining from Juventus, with a move to Real at the top of his wish list.
Liverpool hero Steve Nicol has outlined his thoughts on Pogba’s current situation at United, and not held back in his criticism.
“It’s a complete and utter shambles,” Nicol said on ESPN FC.
“Even the other players must be wondering what’s going to go on.
“[Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer’s been saying that there’s going to be mass changes.
“There’s been, as far as I’m aware, unless I’ve been under a rock somewhere, then nobody’s left, nobody’s come in, and we just don’t know.
“I don’t see how they can get rid of him without losing money for a start.
“The thing’s a shambles, you’ve got your supposed best player wanting out. What a mess.”
