Man Utd set to benefit from Chelsea selling Eden Hazard with Real Madrid transfer offer
MANCHESTER UNITED are set to receive an offer from Real Madrid detailing a possible deal to sign Colombia international James Rodriguez.
Man United is a ‘COMPLETE SHAMBLES’ says Steve Nicol
Manchester United could become the unlikely beneficiary from Eden Hazard’s move from Chelsea to the Spanish capital as Real Madrid attempt to offload their unwanted star.
James Rodriguez took the world by storm at the 2014 World Cup which saw Madrid snatch the midfielder from Monaco.
His career in Spain stalled after he fell out of favour at the Bernabeu, and he was forced into joining Bayern Munich on a two-year loan.
As that loan reaches its conclusion, Rodriguez reportedly asked the Bundesliga champions to allow him to return to Madrid by not taking up their right to make it a permanent deal.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and United are set to take full advantage of the 27-year-old’s contract confusion by sealing a cut-price deal for the playmaker this summer.
However, Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is still keen on adding Paul Pogba to his playing squad before the end of the summer window, and could use United’s interest in Rodriguez as part of the deal.
Spanish football journalist Eduardo Inda has given his take on Pogba's transfer stalemate, and outlined why the clubs are struggling to reach an agreement.
“Pogba is very complicated at this moment,” Inda said on Spanish television programme El Chiringuito de Jugones.
Even the other players must be wondering what’s going to go on
“It is the great star of Manchester, Madrid offers 120 [£111m] more incentives, which could reach 150. Manchester asks for 180 [£160m].”
Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has given his take on Pogba’s current situation, and not held back in his criticism of the club.
“It’s a complete and utter shambles,” Nicol said on ESPN FC.
“Even the other players must be wondering what’s going to go on.
“[Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer’s been saying that there’s going to be mass changes.
“There’s been, as far as I’m aware, unless I’ve been under a rock somewhere, then nobody’s left, nobody’s come in, and we just don’t know.
“I don’t see how they can get rid of him without losing money for a start.
“The thing’s a shambles, you’ve got your supposed best player wanting out. What a mess.”
