Man Utd wages: How much will Daniel James earn compared to Rashford and Pogba's salaries?
DANIEL JAMES has been announced as Manchester United's first signing of the summer, so how much will the Welsh international earn compared to the rest of the Red Devils squad?
Manchester United have announced James as their first signing of the transfer window, with the winger arriving from Swansea for around £15million.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to rebuild his squad after a dismal end to the season and sees the 21-year-old as a key component in United’s future.
The Old Trafford club had initially planned on spending just £10m on the youngster but interest from Monaco and several Premier League clubs has seen the price tag jump up.
And the move is also set to see James’ income skyrocket with the Daily Mail claiming his wages will increase from £4,000-a-week to a staggering £67,000-a-week.
James had one year left on his contract at the Liberty Stadium and is believed to have put pen to paper on a long-term deal at United.
He was seen arriving for international duty separately from the rest of his Wales team-mates yesterday after supposedly undergoing a medical at Carrington.
And the exciting prospect’s wage hike will put him on a par with some high-profile names in the Old Trafford squad – although James is still well short of big-money earners Paul Pogba and co.
The Frenchman is said to earn £290,000-a-week while David de Gea is yet to secure his future at the club but has been offered a bumper pay packet of £350,000-a-week.
Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones all put pen to paper on new deals last season while the Red Devils also took up the option of another year on Ashley Young’s contract.
Martial reportedly quadrupled his wages and earns £250,000-a-week, making the Frenchman the third best-paid player at Old Trafford.
Fred has been earning a huge £120,000 weekly wage but has failed to impress since joining from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer, with the Brazilian reportedly on more money than Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Victor Lindelof and a host of other first-team stars.
Meanwhile a number of players including Juan Mata and Matteo Darmian are out of contract in the summer, but where would James fit into the wage structure according to data gathered by Total Sportek?
