Chelsea could copy Man Utd if Eden Hazard quits for Real Madrid - Sky Sports man
CHELSEA could be forced to copy Manchester United if Eden Hazard moves to Real Madrid, and hope their squad improve, warned Sky Sports Dharmesh Sheth.
Eden Hazard to Real Madrid will go through after final says expert
Chelsea losing Hazard to Real Madrid could be a blessing in disguise, revealed Sheth.
That’s because the rest of their squad could up their game to counteract the effect of losing the Belgian.
At the moment, there’s a big reliance on Hazard within the Chelsea team, he said.
But, just like when Ruud van Nistelrooy left Man United in 2006, the team could benefit from losing their star man.
The stats would suggest that there’s a huge reliance on Eden Hazard
“I just think sometimes when a massive player leaves a club, it just raises the standard of the rest of the players,” Sheth told Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast.
“Because everything seems to be focused on Eden Hazard, doesn’t it? Give the ball to Hazard and he’ll sort it out.
“Potentially [they rely on him too much], the stats would suggest that there’s a huge reliance on Eden Hazard.
“I just remember when Ruud Van Nistelrooy was at Man United, he scored like 150 goals in the five seasons he was there, and then United in that time won one league title.
“Then when he left, they won three league titles in a row. It just seemed that United played in a different way.
“Maybe Chelsea need to start playing in a different way now.”
Chelsea may be without their manager Maurizio Sarri next season, meaning the team will need to adapt to a new style of play.
Sarri has been linked to the vacant job at Juventus, and he’s expected to leave Stamford Bridge after the Europa League final.
Another man that could make a switch to Juventus from Chelsea is Jorginho.
The Italian’s agent has spoken about his client’s link to Turin, and he claimed that the door remains open for a possible switch.
Meanwhile, it looks as if Gonzalo Higuain could be leaving Chelsea this summer, added Sheth.
Olivier Giroud has extended his contract for another season, so Higuain’s role at the club hasn’t been clarified.
