N’Golo Kante WILL leave Chelsea for PSG… but only on one condition - Steve Nicol
CHELSEA midfielder N’Golo Kante WILL join Paris Saint-Germain - but not this summer.
Chelsea: N'Golo Kante to PSG is a 'great idea' says Nicol
That is the verdict of legendary Liverpool defender and ESPN FC pundit Steve Nicol.
Kante has been linked with a move away from Chelsea after being played out of position under Maurizio Sarri this season.
PSG have reportedly made the France international their top target and he is said to be tempted by the move.
However, Nicol says Chelsea cannot afford to sell Kante this summer, with Eden Hazard looking increasingly likely to already be leaving the club.
I can see this happening in the future, it’s a great idea
But the pundit reckons it is a deal that will end up happening in the future.
“I don’t think it’s going to happen [this summer],” Nicol said.
“But I think PSG over the years have been looking at winning the Champions League.
“To do that they’ve been signing forwards.
“They need somebody in the middle of the park that can dominate there and that would be the guy.
“But for the reasons, one [PSG cannot afford him] and the other one being Chelsea can’t afford to let everybody go.
“They need to rebuild, it seems odds-on that Hazard is going.
“So I don’t think this is going to happen [this summer].
“I certainly, I can see this happening in the future, it’s a great idea.
“If I’m PSG absolutely and it gets Kante rightly back where he should play, right in the middle.
“But unfortunately it’s not going to happen [this summer].”
