Celtic fans FUME over SHOCK Neil Lennon selection for Rangers Old Firm derby
CELTIC fans have been left baffled after Neil Lennon left Scott Sinclair out of the line up for Michael Johnston.
Celtic: Neil Lennon’s side train ahead of Old Firm derby
Celtic face Rangers at Ibrox looking to assert dominance over their old rivals after securing an eighth-consecutive league title last week.
Neil Lennon will also be hoping to give his chances of being offered a permanent role a boost, but one decision has left fans confused.
20-year-old Michael Johnston has been named into the starting XI despite making just five starts in the league this season.
Scott Sinclair has been named on the bench in spite of having 17 goals to his name this season.
One fan questioned: “How is Johnstone getting a game?”
“Johnstone should not be starting before Sinclair absolute no chance,” added another.
“Mikey Johnstone struggled last glasgow Derby. That’s quite a weak team and a weaker bench,” another worried fan said.
A fourth added: “Baffled that Johnstone is playing ahead of Sinclair. Absolutely no possible reason I can think of for this decision.”
Before the clash Lennon revealed his disappointment at the news Rangers will not be completing a guard of honour for the Scottish Premiership champions, but insisted that it won’t be used as extra motivation.
“It’s a break from tradition,” Lennon said on Saturday.
“I think we would have done it if the shoe had been on the other foot. But it’s not a major issue for me.
“It would have been a touch of class if they did it. I’m disappointed they are not. Celtic would have done it.”

When asked if his disappointment in Rangers would give him and his players more motivation, Lennon claimed it wouldn’t.
“You don’t need any extra motivation for this game,” he added.
“We’ve had all the motivation for the last eight years and we are still going strong.
“The motivation is to go out there, play well, play strong and win the game. That’s your motivation."
