Man Utd news: What Daniel James’ agent has said about transfer could worry fans
MANCHESTER UNITED have yet to make contract with Swansea about the potential transfer of Daniel James, according to a report.
Man Utd: Solskjaer discusses Daniel James transfer rumours
It was reported on Friday that Manchester United were close to securing a deal for James for around £15m.
The signing would be the first of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign as United boss.
United are in for one of the most lucrative and important transfer windows in their history, having missed out on a place in next season’s Champions League this year.
James is a highly-touted 21-year-old who was incredibly close to joining Leeds on the last day of the January transfer window.
The forward has scored four times and registered seven assists this season for Swansea.
But Manchester Evening News are reporting that James’ camp have not yet been contacted by United chiefs about transferring the young Welshman to Manchester.
The report also states that United have not even registered any interest at all, as of yet.
Solskjaer had his say on the matter, when asked about James in a news conference.
"I can't comment on every single individual," Solskjaer said.
"There are many players, as I've said it before I don't like it when other managers talk about my players and I wouldn't talk about any others even if I was or wasn't interested."
Solskjaer also spoke of the importance of nurturing young players into world-renowned footballing superstars, admitting that it doesn’t happen overnight.
"I don't think we've ever been a ready-made club,” he added.
"Ronaldo wasn't ready-made and Rooney wasn't ready-made, lots of players have come here and developed into the top superstars they have become.
"That's always got to be the model here to develop players.
"I've got the best staff, the best environment, the best supporters, anything they love it's players that excite them.
“It’s players that could get them off their seats and we hope to get some of them."
United have one game left to play this season - against Cardiff on Sunday in a meaningless game for both sides.
Solskjaer’s team have already missed out on the top four while Cardiff have been relegated from the Premier League.
