Christian Eriksen will only LEAVE Tottenham on one condition - Steve Nicol
CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN will leave Tottenham this summer - but only if Real Madrid come in for him.
Tottenham: It's right time for Eriksen to move says pundit
That is according to ESPN FC pundit and Liverpool legend Steve Nicol.
Eriksen has been linked with a move away from Tottenham, with his contract running out at the end of next season.
Real Madrid are the club most linked with the Dane’s signature, with Manchester United also said to be keen.
Nicol says Eriksen’s next transfer, at 27, will be the last big move in his career.
If Real Madrid, who we know are rebuilding, for example if it’s them, I think he leaves
But he reckons only a move to the Bernabeu would tempt the midfielder.
“I think it depends on who’s looking for him,” Nicol said.
“If Real Madrid, who we know are rebuilding, for example if it’s them, I think he leaves.
“He knows that Tottenham are still in England behind City and Liverpool.
“So he can rule out winning the Premier League I think for the next two or three years.
“That means he’s going to be, what, in a couple of seasons, 30?
“This is his last chance for a big move.
“When he left Ajax to go to Tottenham, that was a big move.
“Now, it seems the right time for him to make another big move.
“So unfortunately for Tottenham fans, I think if somebody likes a Real Madrid comes in, then he’s going to go.
“So I’m going to say this is a hit because Tottenham like money and this is the last chance they’ll get to get big money for this guy.
“I think that [he hasn’t signed a contract] tells you that he’s thinking about [leaving] as well.”
