Robbie Fowler launches STUNNING attack on Luis Suarez after showing Liverpool ‘NO RESPECT’
LIVERPOOL legend Robbie Fowler has launched a verbal attack on Barcelona striker Luis Suarez - claiming the Uruguayan has shown his former side no respect.
Liverpool: Luis Suarez says he has 'respect' for fans at Anfield
Suarez scored the opening goal in Barcelona’s 3-0 Champions League semi-final first leg win over Liverpool at the Nou Camp last week.
Despite spending three seasons at Anfield, the 32-year-old celebrated his goal as normal.
But it was not the celebration that irked Fowler, it was in fact Luis Suarez’s antics during the game.
Fowler also revealed his frustration at how Suarez quit Liverpool back in 2014 and claimed he should not be treated as a hero by Liverpool fans.
His antics last week when playing against Liverpool showed no respect whatsoever
“I’m a big fan of him as a player, I thought he was brilliant when he was here,” Fowler said ahead of Tuesday's second leg on BT Sport.
“I have a big problem with the way the fans love him, I really do.
“He left Liverpool and everyone was going on about ‘you can go and play for Barcelona, go and play’, but the way he left Liverpool, he wanted to go and play for Arsenal.
“All of a sudden people go ‘oh he stayed and he was still brilliant and he never downed tools’.
“He started playing well because he wanted to leave. He wanted to go to Arsenal.
“That’s what annoys me about the Liverpool fans, they love him.
“Michael [Owen] won’t like me saying this but Michael did far more for this club than what he ever did.
“And all of a sudden he comes out, I’m not interested whether he celebrates after scoring or not.
Liverpool arrive at Anfield ahead of Barcelona clash
“But his antics last week when playing against Liverpool showed no respect whatsoever.
“I know he’s a street footballer if you like but I thought at times his behaviour towards Liverpool, the club, the fans, during that game showed no respect whatsoever.
“He’s coming out now talking about he’s not going to celebrate if he scores here because of his respect - where was his respect last week? It was non existent.
“For me I’ve got a big problem for him.”
Liverpool pulled off a stunning comeback at Anfield in the second leg, winning 4-0 thanks to braces from both Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum.
