Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer given transfer instructions by Gary Neville
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been told he must settle on a formation before moving ahead with his transfer business this summer.
Red Devils hero Gary Neville believes his former team-mate must decided whether he will be using a diamond or 4-3-3.
Solskjaer has used both since replacing Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
And with Manchester United expected to overhaul in a big way this summer, Neville has told the Norwegian he needs to settle on the way he wants to play.
He said on Sky Sports: “We've talked a lot about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doing a lot of rebuilding to his squad over the next few months.
“But if he wants to play a diamond that requires a lot of central midfield players.
“Otherwise with a 4-3-3, he's going to need some wide players.”
Neville also gave his verdict on Alexis Sanchez and why his form has been so poor since joining from Arsenal.
He said: “It’s an absolute mystery. I don’t know anybody who can put any science or sense behind what’s happened to him.
Man Utd: David de Gea could be DROPPED says Moyes
“It’s as if one of the most tenacious football players that you will ever see with and without the ball has just lost everything.
“That’s from his confidence to his energy, to his legs, to his dribbling ability, to his goals.
“There is nothing left in Alexis Sanchez at all. Everything is still waiting for him to turn up.
“There are imminent decisions which are going to be made on a number of players at Manchester United and he will be one of them.
“He does get his chance today and if he can do well in these two games he can potentially keep his place in the club.
“But there’s talk today of Manchester United cutting their losses on him and I think that’s [the most likely outcome] at this moment in time.”
United’s final game of the season is against Cardiff at Old Trafford (3pm) next Sunday with the Welsh side already relegated.
They could still finish in the top four but are reliant on the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham dropping points.
