Leeds have ONE problem Sheffield United, Norwich are NOT suffering from - Stephen Warnock
LEEDS UNITED are now the underdogs to claim automatic promotion to the Premier League and former defender Stephen Warnock has pinpointed one key area where the club is falling down.
Leeds United 'look lost for ideas' says Stephen Warnock
Rivals Sheffield United and Norwich City, as well as West Brom and Aston Villa, have comfortably outscored the Whites this season and the Blades also boast a better defence.
Scoring goals was evidently the issue in Leeds’ recent defeats to Wigan Athletic and Birmingham City, strikers Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe guilty of some bad misses.
For Warnock, that killer instinct in front of goal is what Leeds United lack at this stage of the season.
“They look tired, they look lost of ideas,” Warnock told the EFL Highlights Show on Quest.
“Their form since January? Not good enough.
“I think they’re probably ninth in the form table since January – and losing seven out of 17.
“When we talk about Sheffield United and Norwich, they’ve both got strikers who are scoring goals.
“Leeds don’t have that – they’ve got Kemar Roofe but not enough goals in the team as well.”
Monday’s defeat to Brentford left Marcelo Bielsa’s side three points behind Chris Wilder's United with two games to go, and the Blades’ stronger goal difference will mean victory at home to relegated Ipswich Town on the weekend will all-but secure automatic promotion.
