Tottenham team news: Predicted line up to face Brighton - Lloris update, Trippier BACK
TOTTENHAM host Brighton tonight as they look to keep their position in the Champions League places, but who will Mauricio Pochettino pick in his line-up? Express Sport predicts the Spurs team.
Hugo Lloris missed the defeat at Manchester City on Saturday due to a muscle problem but Pochettino is hopeful he will be fit.
Paulo Gazzaniga started at the weekend and looked shaky as Spurs were beaten 1-0 thanks to Phil Foden’s early goal.
Pochettino opted for wing-backs against City with Juan Foyth and Ben Davies starting in the wide positions.
Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier could return tonight with Tottenham having impressed against Premier League title contenders City despite defeat.
Therefore Pochettino may stick with the formation with Lucas Moura and Heung-min Son retaining their places up front.
Victor Wanyama could replace Eric Dier in midfield with a Champions League semi-final on the horizon.
But Pochettino is determined not to let the clashes with Ajax cloud his vision with a top four spot certainly not secured yet.
“We are not thinking of Ajax,” Pochettino said.
“We showed at Manchester City that we’re thinking in the ‘today’ and that competition, the Premier League.
“Now our energy is in Brighton. It’s so clear that we have two objectives, one is to be in the top four at the end of the season and the other is to beat Ajax.
“But we need to go step-by-step, the players know it.
“I think the behaviour and the mentality is perfect.”
Predicted Tottenham XI: Lloris; Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Rose; Wanyama, Dele, Eriksen; Son, Lucas Moura
