Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa sends FIVE-WORD message to Whites stars after Wigan nightmare
LEEDS UNITED boss Marcelo Bielsa had a five-word message for his players after their nightmare defeat to Wigan.
Bielsa knows has three games left to get Leeds into the top two and secure an automatic promotion spot to the Premier League.
However, after the 2-1 defeat to a 10-man Wigan team on Friday, Leeds now find themselves on equal points with Sheffield United, but in third place in the table because the Blades have a better goal difference.
Bielsa has overseen a transformation at the club this season, with many fans and players enjoying the new style of football he has brought with him to the club.
Leeds finished 13th in the Championship last season and many didn’t expect such a quick turn around at the club, which now sees them challenging for automatic promotion.
You HAVE to just win
After the loss to Wigan, Bielsa was honest with his players about what is needed going forward.
“You HAVE to just win,” the Argentine said.
Throughout the season the 63-year-old has not held back with his criticism of his player’s or himself when he has felt it was necessary.
Despite slipping out of the top two places Bielsa expressed his motivation towards the final few games of the season.
“I’m ready to work again immediately in these games,” he said.
“What we need is a breath.”
“We have all the ingredients to win. But you have games where it is not about deserving things it is about getting things.
“You HAVE to just win. Find a way.
Leeds United: Bielsa addresses title race
“The games form now are more demanding than the games we have had so far.”
Bielsa said he had “no explanation” for the performance against the Latics, in a game where Leeds missed a penalty, finished the game with 77 per cent possession and registered 36 attempts on goal, with only 10 shots on target.
He will no doubt be hoping the Whites can be more clinical in their remaining matches, against Brentford, Aston Villa and Ipswich Town.
Next up for Leeds is a trip to Griffin Park on Monday to face the Bees, who currently sit 15th in table and have only won one of their last five matches.
