‘He’s what Manchester United need in this team’ - Paul Scholes on star midfielder
MANCHESTER UNITED need Paul Pogba to return to the form he showed during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first few weeks at the club.
Man United should SELL Pogba after West Ham result says pundit
That is according to Manchester United legend and BT Sport pundit Paul Scholes.
After a turbulent time under previous boss Jose Mourinho, Pogba hit the ground running when Solskjaer took over at Old Trafford in December.
The France international scored nine goals in Solskjaer’s first 12 games in charge in all competitions.
However, he was without a goal in nine matches before scoring a penalty in Saturday’s visit of West Ham.
He’s what we need, he’s what Manchester United need in this team, which is real quality
Scholes says Pogba has undoubted quality, as was shown earlier this year.
But he does not think United are the same team without the 26-year-old on top form.
“I want to see the Paul Pogba that started when Ole came in,” Scholes said.
“His first six or seven games, I’ll stretch that to 10, 11 games.
“The quality of him, the assists, the goals he scored were fantastic.
“It just seems like the last few weeks have been a bit of a struggle for him.
“He seems to be slipping into his old ways a little bit.
“Taking too many touches on the ball, not passing and he needs to get back to it.
“We know what quality this player has, he’s such a powerful player.
“He can strike a ball, he can make a goal, he can score goals.
“He’s what we need, he’s what Manchester United need in this team, which is real quality.”
