Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Man Utd: Roy Hodgson reveals if offer has been made for Palace ace
CRYSTAL PALACE have yet to receive any offers for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, their manager Roy Hodgson has insisted.
Wan-Bissaka has been one of Crystal Palace’s star performers this season and caught the eyes of many with a string of stellar performances.
His displays for the Eagles are said to have seen him attract interest from Manchester United, who are planning a major overhaul of their squad this summer.
The United board are understood to have identified the 21-year-old full-back as a long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia, who will leave the club at the end of the season.
Manchester City are also said to be interested in signing the England Under-21 international, who has racked up 34 appearances this season.
It’s been reported that both sides have tabled offers for the Palace academy product.
Hodgson, however, has insisted the Palace board haven’t any received bids for their promising defender.
“I don’t believe that an offer has been made and I think this is still speculation,” Hodgson said after Palace’s 1-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday.
“I can’t say that I am surprised [about reported interest], I think he is playing so well and he has an incredible future in front of him.
I don’t believe that an offer has been made and I think this is still speculation
“But he has a four-year contract with us and when we asked him to sign that, we were asking him to be a Crystal Palace player during that time.
“And I’ve not seen anything in his performances, or heard anything that causes me to change my mind or have any doubts that he is going to be our player.
“But if that speculation comes to pass and an offer comes to the table, then it will be up to the club to make a decision I suppose.
“But at the moment, I don’t have any concerns in that respect.”
Wan-Bissaka could very well be tempted to swap Selhurst Park for Old Trafford or the Etihad if United or City come calling.
But former Palace ace John Salako has urged the youngster to remain at the club and continue playing first-team football.
"But Aaron [Wan-Bissaka] hasn't played,” Salako told talkSPORT.
"He's come on leaps and bounds and if he moves he's going to be under massive pressure.
"Do you remember when Wilfried [Zaha] went to United? He was too young, too early, didn't settle in.
"He's got that massive pressure week in, week out and he has to step up another level or two."
Wan-Bissaka and his Palace team-mates will be back in action next Sunday when they welcome title-chasing Manchester City to Selhurst Park.
