Bryan Robson expects major Man Utd announcement in ‘next couple of weeks’
MANCHESTER UNITED must make a decision over the future of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the “next couple of weeks”.
That is the opinion of legendary Manchester United and England midfielder Bryan Robson.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the current interim manager at Old Trafford, having replaced the sacked Jose Mourinho in December.
The former Red Devils striker has exceeded all expectations so far, leading his side to the quarter-final of the Champions League and with a strong chance of finishing in the Premier League top four.
The style of play Solskjaer has got his team playing has also earned rave reviews from ex-players and supporters.
United over the next couple of weeks are going to have to make a decision
Robson believes Solskjaer has done more than enough to be given the job on a permanent basis.
Manchester United have previously stated a decision will not be made until the summer.
But Robson says Solskjaer deserves to know sooner rather than later.
“Since Ole Gunnar came in the fans are really enjoying the type of football that we’re playing,” Robson told ESPN.
“Ole’s brought a smile and a freedom to be able to go and play.
“The support play is far better and so the results have got better. So he’s done a great job.
“United over the next couple of weeks are going to have to make a decision whether they’re going to give Ole the job or whether they do delay it until the end of the season.
“But I think they should do it over the next few weeks, so then it gives Ole a chance, if he does get a chance, to prepare for next season.
“I think Ole’s done enough, with the results that he’s got so far, that he probably deserves the chance to take the club forward and keep playing the type of football that he’s been getting them to play."
United's first game back after the international break is at home to Javi Gracia's Watford on Saturday.
Victory will take them fourth until Monday at least, when Arsenal host Newcastle at the Emirates.
