PHILIPPE COUTINHO is a popular player among the Barcelona squad despite his struggles since joining from Liverpool.
Philippe Coutinho 'doesn't fit' at Barcelona says Moreno
Philippe Coutinho swapped Liverpool for Barcelona during the transfer window of January 2018, moving to the Nou Camp in a massive £142million transfer.
At the time, the Catalan giants believed they had finally signed a player capable of delivering a first Champions League title since 2015.
Barcelona had initially looked at signing Real Madrid star Isco but, despite having to play a waiting game, finally got their man.
Since leaving Liverpool, though, Coutinho has failed to sparkle over in Catalonia.
The 26-year-old has managed to find the net just four times in La Liga, registering two assists.
He has been similarly disappointing in the Champions League with only two goals to his name.
As a result, links to Manchester United have emerged with the Red Devils looking to strengthen in attack.
PSG are also linked with Neymar close to Coutinho.
But ESPN say that the former Liverpool star is a popular figure in the Barcelona dressing room, despite his poor form.
A source is quoted as saying: "He is generally a very happy player who enjoys training.
“But when he goes onto the pitch, something happens and it doesn't go well.
"He has more than enough quality to be a starter and we hope he regains his confidence."
News on Coutinho comes at a time where:
- Manchester United star Paul Pogba makes a decision on joining Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Coutinho recently admitted he had been poor for Barcelona since leaving Liverpool behind.
"In the last few weeks, months even, I've not been playing well but I still want to improve," Coutinho told Spanish TV station Movistar+.
"I came to Barcelona to give my best. I live for the moment. You never know what the future holds.
"I am happy with my performance (against Lyon)."
