Why Adrien Rabiot leaving PSG could be BAD news for Man Utd - Shaka Hislop
ADRIEN RABIOT leaving Paris Saint-Germain could spark a move for Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera.
Man Utd: Herrera could fill Rabiot void at PSG says Hislop
That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.
Rabiot is out of contract at PSG in the summer and will leave the club at the end of his deal.
The France international has been frozen out by the Ligue 1 giants after he rejected the offer of an extension.
Herrera is also coming towards the end of his Manchester United contract and has been linked with a free transfer to PSG.
Rabiot we already know is on his way out, so maybe there is a void to be filled there
Hislop believes United should make sure Herrera stays at the club and personally he does not think the Spaniard will go to France.
However, he admits Rabiot leaving PSG means there is a space the 29-year-old could fill.
“This is a strange one,” Hislop said.
“I like Herrera a lot, though he’s found his opportunities a little bit limited, particularly over the last 12 months, let’s say.
“Does that mean a move to PSG is on the cards? I’m not quite sure.
“I’m going to put this down as a miss right now, simply because I think it’s uncertain exactly what happens at Manchester United in the medium term and still very unsure about what happens at PSG.
“Questions about whether they’re going to spend and who’s coming and who’s going.
“Rabiot we already know is on his way out, so maybe there is a void to be filled there.
“But as of right now, I’m not sure that is a move that is going to come together, because there are so many question marks on both sides of that transfer.”
Herrera has made 25 appearances for United in all competitions this season, scoring three goals.
He has become more of a regular since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced the sacked Jose Mourinho as United interim boss in December.
