Did you see Gary Lineker hilariously refer to Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba's Man Utd feud?
ROMELU LUKAKU and Paul Pogba reportedly clashed following Saturday’s win over Southampton - and Gary Lineker slyly referred to the alleged altercation during Tuesday’s match against Paris Saint-Germain.
Reports claimed Romelu Lukaku was unhappy with Paul Pogba for not allowing him to take a penalty late on in the 3-2 win over Southampton.
Belgium international Lukaku was on a hat-trick and wanted the spot-kick to take home the match ball.
But usual penalty taker Pogba insisted on taking it and duly saw his effort saved by Saints keeper Angus Gunn.
Manchester United interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to have had to separate Lukaku and Pogba in the dressing room following the match.
He’s obviously not on penalties
Manchester United were back in action on Tuesday in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash against PSG.
Lukaku gave the Red Devils the lead in just the second minute, capitalising on an error from Thilo Kehrer.
He rounded goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and scored but replays showed he could have gone down for a penalty beforehand after contact from PSG skipper Thiago Silva.
Former United defender Rio Ferdinand said of the incident on BT Sport: “He could have gone down there and it’s a red card, penalty.”
And Lineker jokingly replied, in reference to Saturday’s supposed incident,: “He’s obviously not on penalties.”
Ferdinand, Michael Owen and Owen Hargreaves all laughed at Lineker’s comment.
Owen replied: “No exactly.”
Following reports over his falling out with Pogba, Lukaku appeared to quash the rumours on his Twitter page.
He tweeted: “When the hate don’t work they start telling lies…”
Lukaku notched again before half time to make it six goals in three games for the striker.
And Ferdinand says the 25-year-old is the best finisher at the club.
“Good shape, starting to press from the front," Ferdinand said.
“They cause a mistake there and Romelu Lukaku, the best finisher at the club at the moment."
