Graeme Souness on the Liverpool midfield
Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum started in midfield, with James Milner and Adam Lallana coming on in the second half.
“No [they didn’t create enough], not today,” Souness said on Sky Sports.
“They knew what type of game they were going to get, they were going to get an Everton team who’ve not been going well, who were going to be in their face, going to be aggressive to them.
“So they would have known that a long time before they turned up at the stadium.

“You have to meet that challenge head on, which they did, and then rise above it and play your own game.
“They certainly matched them, they certainly competed with them but they never went to the next level which is ‘get the ball down and hurt them’.
“I felt today they huffed and puffed for the vast majority of that game.

“We point the finger all the time when they don’t win games at the front three, saying they’re misfiring. But I would look a wee bit further than that.
“I think they’ve got a fabulous midfield in terms of if you’re playing in Liverpool’s back four right now, that is the midfield you want.
“If you’re playing up front for Liverpool right now, that is maybe not the midfield you want.
