Man City player ratings: One Silva shines, the other FLOPS as De Bruyne manages just FOUR
MANCHESTER CITY won the Carabao Cup after a tense penalty shootout victory over Chelsea this afternoon. But how did their players rate at Wembley?
Express Sport runs the rule over Pep Guardiola’s side.
Man City player ratings
Ederson - 6
Had very little to do until the shootout where he kept out Jorginho's poor effort and watched David Luiz strike a post.
Kyle Walker - 5
Full-back was caught out of position once in the second half and almost cost his side a goal.
Nicolas Otamendi - 4
Hi mis-hit shot was turned in by Sergio Aguero but the effort was ruled out for offside following a lengthy VAR delay. Nearly scored an embarrassing own goal. Booked.
Aymeric Laporte - 5
Caught out of position after 10 minutes and nearly allowed N’Golo Kante a clear run at goal. replaced by Vincent Kompany at half-time because of a hamstring injury.
Aleksandar Zinchenko - 7
Beginning to look like City’s first-choice left-back. Aggressive in the tackle and made a crucial block to prevent what would surely have been a Chelsea winner.
Fernandinho - 6
Ballooned well over the bar from long range early in the second half but was City’s Mr reliable in midfield once again. Booked.
Kevin De Bruyne - 4
Belgian looked out of sorts and repeatedly over-hit his crosses. Looks like he's still lacking match sharpness.
David Silva - 4
Another star below his usual brilliant best. Touch uncharacteristically let him down on occasion. Replaced by Ilkay Gundogan with 10 minutes left on the clock.
Bernardo Silva - 8
City’s best player by some distance. Showed some dangerous passes, made some mazy runs with the ball and provided the biggest goal threat. Was supremely cool to score in the shootout.
Raheem Sterling - 8
England winger scored the winning penalty and his excellent run deep into extra-time prompted a goalmouth scramble that nearly led to a winner before the shootout.
Sergio Aguero - 6
Had one goal ruled out and went close with a 20-yard drive that was well-saved by Kepa Arrizabalaga deep into extra-time. Scored his penalty in the shootout.
Subs
Vincent Kompany - 5
Struggled to deal with the pace and trickery of Eden Hazard as the central striker but blocked David Luiz’s late effort.
Ilkay Gundogan - 6
A wild effort from 25 yards missed by some distance but scored his penalty.
Leroy Sane - 5
Did little after coming on and was the only City player to miss in the shootout.
Danilo - 6
An assured cameo in midfield after coming on for Fernandinho for extra-time.
