Man City player ratings: Aguero and De Bruyne struggle as VAR takes centre stage
MANCHESTER CITY somehow came out of the first leg of their Champions League last 16 clash with Schalke 3-2 winners.
Sergio Aguero opened the scoring for the Premier League champions but then VAR took centre stage.
Schalke were awarded two controversial penalties in the first half.
Nicolas Otamendi handled in the area and although it didn’t look deliberate a spot kick was given.
And Fernandinho then tangled with his man as Schalke went into the break 2-1 up.
But late goals from Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling have put Manchester City in a dominant position.
