Sky Sports man Martin Tyler reveals what he's heard about Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi
SKY SPORTS man Martin Tyler has explained what he's heard about Chelsea leaving out Callum Hudson-Odoi against Manchester City.
Chelsea were put to the sword by champions Manchester City, who smashed in six in a devastating Etihad showing
Hudson-Odoi, the 18-year-old winger wanted by Bayern Munich, was left out the squad altogether as his more experienced team-mates flopped.
That prompted Jamie Redknapp to ask on Sky Sports: "Martin, you said that Hudson-Odoi travelled. Was there any news on him?
"Was there there an illness, a knock, what did you hear?
"It feels like this kid needs an opportunity to play some games now. What's the worst that's going to happen, away from home?"
Tyler then explained what he has been told about the teenage sensation.
"He was off training for a day in the week, I understand, through illness," he said.
"Illness was mentioned again in the press conference on Friday but if he's ill you wouldn't bring him, would you?"
The kid needs to play now
Redknapp agreed and said: "I wouldn't have thought so. The kid needs to play now."
Gary Neville was commentating alongside Tyler and Redknapp on the game and took it upon himself to deliver a wisecrack.
"Maybe he just wanted a weekend in Manchester!" the United legend joked.
Bayern have offered to pay Hudson-Odoi around £85,000 a week, which is more than he is currently being offered by Chelsea.
The youngster has 18 months to go on his current contract and he wants to leave to play more regular football.
He is yet to start a Premier League game for the club - despite Maurizio Sarri insisting he could be one of the best in Europe.
