Ed Woodward could be forced to give Solskjaer Man Utd job for one reason - Parlour
MANCHESTER UNITED could be forced to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the permanent job because of the lack of available managers.
That’s the view of Ray Parlour, with Solskjaer in caretaker charge at Old Trafford until the end of the season.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with the job, though seems reluctant to leave Spurs.
Solskjaer has the near perfect job application so far, having won nine of his ten games in charge of the Manchester United.
The Norwegian has made clear his desire to remain in charge, having been a hero during his playing days with the club.
It looks like he wants to stay with a big project at Tottenham
And Parlour believes executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward may be forced into handing Solskjaer the job.
“He’s got every chance, he’s done everything right since he has come in,” Parlour told Express Sport.
“I like the way he’s spoke to the Press and he’s been very lively.
“He’s respected the players and got them playing again, the players have come out and said they’re playing the Manchester United way now.
“It’s quick football and we’ve seen the players improve - Pogba has been a different player, Rashford looks superb up front.
“It’s going to be really interesting and you look to the summer and ask who is available.
“I don’t think there are many top managers that are going to be available.
“You look at Pochettino, who is the obvious choice, it looks like he wants to stay with a big project at Tottenham.
“If that’s the case, I don’t know where Manchester United go so they probably will give the job to Solskjaer.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will look to earn his tenth win as boss when United travel to Fulham today in the Premier League.
Manchester United have some crunch fixtures this month, facing PSG in the Champions League, Chelsea in the FA Cup and a home Premier League match against Liverpool.
Some reports suggest that progression past Ligue 1 giants PSG into the quarter-finals of the Champions League could earn Solskjaer the job.
But it’s unlikely a decision will be made before the season is over.
